Betty Ashton Meehan, widow of Louis Meehan died on September 20, 2015. She
was a resident of the Brentwood Nursing Home, Warwick, RI. Prior to living at the Brentwood Nursing home, she was a long time resident of Cranston, RI

Betty was born in Southport, England on July 6, 1922 to Percy and Gladys Ashton.
She was educated in England and served with the American Red Cross during World
War II. After the war she followed the advice of her many American friends and came
to the U.S. She worked as a nanny in New York and Boston before marrying Louis
Meehan of Cranston, RI. She and Louie settled in Cranston building a house and
making a home there. Betty worked for many years for the Cranston School
Department.

Upon her retirement she and her sister Jean bought a vacation home in Dunedin,
Florida where she spent many happy days enjoying the ocean and visits from her sister.

As her health declined, Betty returned to her home in Rhode Island and lived on her own into here nineties. She decided at ninety-one to move to the Brentwood Nursing Home where she made many friends with her positive attitude and acceptance of whatever came her way.

Betty had a long and full life; she enjoyed people, the ocean, gardening, cats and the Red Sox. All those who knew her will miss her.

Her sister Jean and her husband Edward Gibbon, a sister in law June Ashton, nephew Martin Gibbon, niece Fiona Finsaas and their children in England survive her.
