Byron J. 'B.J.' Dalma
80, of Providence, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband for 58 years of Marie A. (Giovannucci) Dalma. B.J. was born in New Orleans, LA, the son of the late Byron G. and Marie (Bird) Dalma.
He served in the U.S. Navy for ten years and then worked as a staff photographer at the Newport Naval War College for 32 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Church Holy Name Society and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He also had served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector.
Besides his wife, he leaves his daughters, Lori Hoff and her husband Michael of Johnston and Kathy Sorrentino and her husband Robert of Providence; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Louise Huelly, Jeanne de St. Germain, Marie Sander and Rita Malouse.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Thursday at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bartholomew Church, Providence at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
