91, of Garden St., Cranston, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Cedar Crest Nursing Center in Cranston. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel J. Tavis. Born in Madrid, Spain, she was the daughter of the late Gregorio and Tomasa (Izquierdo) Priego.
Carmen travelled extensively with her husband throughout Europe until his retirement from the U.S. Department of Foreign Service. She was a member of Cornerstone Church in Warwick; and was an avid seamstress.
She was the devoted mother of James A. Tavis and his wife Karen of Cranston, Richard G. Tavis and his wife Barbara of Smithfield, Ann Ricci and her husband Louis of Johnston, and Robert P. Tavis and his wife Anne of Dunbarton, NH; loving grandmother of 16; loving great-grandmother of 15; and dear sister of Fortunata Priego of Spain and the late Felipe Priego, Amalio Priego and Petra Lora.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Monday, November 30th at 10 a.m. in Cornerstone Church, 1990 Elmwood Ave., Warwick, followed by burial at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS are Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston.
