Carmine Sciacca

January 10, 1931 — December 12, 2017

Carmine Sciacca

passed away peacefully on December 12, 2017.  He was the son of the late Guiseppe Sciacca and Giuseppini (Palmieri) Sciacca, loving husband of Tommasina Sciacca, father of Elvio Sciacca and his wife Lisa and Frank Sciacca, grandfather of Monica Sciacca, Jessica Sciacca, Michael Sciacca, Angelica Sciacca; Uncle to various nieces and nephews in the United States, Italy and Australia.

Born in Roccamonfina, Italy.  He worked in his family business cultivating orchards of chestnuts and olives along with his brothers, Guido, Italo, Umberto and loving sister the late Ana Sciacca, who passed away one hour prior to him.  Upon turning eighteen years of age, Carmino, as he was known to all, enlisted in the Military as a Paratrooper, where he served for two years.  Upon returning to Roccamonfina, Italy, he married the love of his life, Tommasina, and moved to Melbourne, Australia with his wife and beloved brother, Guido, where the two families lived and prospered together for approximately 10 years.

In 1967, he moved to Providence, Rhode Island, with his wife, three year old son, Elvio, and his soon to be new born, Frank Sciacca.   Thereafter, Mr. Sciacca worked as a laborer in the Local 271 Laborers Union, which he was a proud member until his retirement.  Upon retiring, he found great pleasure and enjoyment in working with his sons on their various projects, especially toiling away is their gardens or building stone walls by hand with perfect symmetry on their properties.

Carmino was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.  He loved the outdoors, working with his hands and was an avid gardener. Anyone who knew him loved him.  He was a kindhearted soul who loved talking to his friends, neighbors, family and all alike.  He especially loved counseling his grandchildren about the virtues of life and family.  He was happiest the most when his family gathered around the Sunday table and enjoyed sharing time and a good meal together.
