Caroline Esther (Andreoli) Pitman

86, of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 10, 2026. Born on January 21, 1940, in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the beloved daughter of Giacomina Rose Mannarelli and Cesare Andreoli, both born in Italy. A proud first-generation American, Caroline graduated from Mount Pleasant High School with the Class of 1958 and later, The Certified Institute of Travel Agents.

In 1960, Caroline married Romeo Pisaturo, and together they welcomed two children, Lisa and Carl. Summers were often spent on the boat, enjoying cookouts and treasured gatherings with loved ones. In 1974, she married Edgar Pitman, an airline executive, and together they blended their families and shared many happy years in Florida, Texas, and Rhode Island.

Caroline built a distinguished career as a certified travel consultant, helping clients plan the vacations of their dreams. She later became president of Leisure World, the business she founded with her husband, Ed. Beyond her professional life, Caroline had a deep love for animals, travel, world cultures, entertaining, and the arts. She was an active member of the Italian American Historical Society, the Dante Alighieri Society, and the Cranston Historical Society. She also sang in St. Mark’s chorus and volunteered with McAuley House and the Cranston Senior Center.

Caroline spent the eighties and nineties in Coral Gables, Florida, with her husband and a wonderful circle of friends. In 1999, she and Ed returned to Rhode Island, where they were joyfully reunited with family and many longtime friends. Together, they created a cherished tradition of organizing annual family trips, which later grew into memorable journeys with both family and friends to remarkable destinations including Morocco, India, Russia, Southeast Asia, African safaris, South America and countless rivers throughout Europe. These travels became some of the most treasured chapters of their lives.

A devoted mother and Nana, Caroline was happiest when surrounded by family, participating in church activities, and exploring the world she so loved. She will be remembered always for her compassion and kindness, her gracious dinner parties, her hearty laugh, and the gift she had for making others feel welcome. She also treasured the many lifelong friendships that enriched her life.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Peter, and several step-siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Edgar Tilman Pitman; her daughter, Lisa Pisaturo and her partner, Stephen Cardi; her son, Carl Pisaturo and his partner, Kiri; her grandson, Luka; her stepdaughters, Lana Pitman and Julie Pitman and Julie’s husband, Kelly Oberbillig; and Gary Pitman and grandchildren Joseph and Sophia. Her loyal pup, Holly Rose, remained by her side until the end.

The family offers heartfelt gratitude to the employees at St. Elizabeth’s, Hope Hospice nurses and her home health care CNAs for their compassionate and exceptional care.
