a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at her home. Born on June 19, 1938, in Providence, RI, Caroline lived a life marked by steadfast dedication to loved ones, faith, and craft.
Caroline shared 54 years of marriage with her beloved husband, the late George Solitro. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and enduring traditions. Caroline worked alongside relatives at Solitro’s Bakery for many years, a business that stood as a testament to their shared commitment to community and hard work. Her devotion to those closest to her and to her faith defined her life, and she took great pride in her daughters and grandchildren and the lives they built together.
A creative and talented woman, Caroline enjoyed sewing and crocheting, but found her greatest fulfillment in cooking traditional Italian dishes and entertaining friends and her large extended family. She especially loved hosting yearly Christmas Eve dinners and St. Mary Day celebrations. Caroline was a communicant of St. Mary Church and a frequent volunteer for many educational and fundraising activities for St. Mary School and Parish. Her church involvement was a lasting source of strength and comfort. She was a former member of the Regina Coeli Society and the Galilee Beach Club.
Caroline is survived by her beloved daughters: Lora Solitro of Cranston; Elizabeth Amadio (John) of Cranston; Christine Charette (Matthew) of Falmouth, MA; and Georgia Solitro (Matthew Olney) of Scituate. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Thomas and Catelyn Charette and Isabella and Ava Amadio, who brought her immense happiness; her dear sister, Elaine Pezzullo of Johnston; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she inspired with her sense of purpose and humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dante and Lucy (Manzi) Sarro; and her brothers, Joseph and John Sarro.
Caroline’s life was a tapestry of love, faith and strength. Her passing, surrounded by those she loved, marks the end of an era for all who knew her, but her legacy endures in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11am in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Her visiting hours and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church.
