70, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at his home, on Monday, June 8, 2015. Charlie was the beloved husband of the late Susan (Iafrate) Asselin. Born in Providence, he grew up in Johnston and was the son of the late Albert and Marierose (Belanger) Asselin. Charlie worked for the city of Johnston, was a co-owner of Iafrate Construction Company and was a ship fitter for General Dynamics/ Electric Boat in Quonset for 30 years. Charlie was a graduate of Johnson and Wales University. He was a staff sergeant of the US Air Force serving in the Vietnam War; he was also a member of the Kelley-Gazzero VFW Post # 2812, Cranston, a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, an avid guitar player and music lover. Charlie is survived by his loving daughters, Suzette Patterson of Riverside, and Michele Asselin and her husband Bill Mayatte of Pawtucket. He was the cherished grandfather of Colette and Audrey Patterson and Sophie Mayatte. He was the lifelong best friend of Joseph Tufano of Johnston. His funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, Atwood Avenue, Cranston.
