Charles A. Pappas

89, of Narragansett, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, January 24, 2014 at South County Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Theonie Pappas for 53 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Arthur and Efigenia "Annie" (Papadoniou) Pappas.
Charles graduated from Hope High School in 1942 and was drafted into the military. He became a member of the Army Corp. of Engineers serving until the end of the war. He then graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Economics in 1953. He was a special systems design engineer for Grinnell Corp., a division of Tyco Lab for 40 years and was elected a Registered Professional Engineer in fire protection. He was a parishioner of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and past board member.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Dr. Eleni Pappas Zervos and son-in-law, Dr. John Zervos of Narragansett. Charles was the beloved grandfather "Papou" of Nicole, Arianna, and Gregory Zervos. He was the brother of the late George Pappas and Elizabeth Karol and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed reading and spending time at Narragansett Town Beach. Charlie was a beautiful, kind and gracious man who enjoyed being with everyone and was loved by all. He will be remembered for his smile and sweet and gentle soul. He brought joy to all of our lives.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Tuesday at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Cranston. Burial with military honors will be at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. VISITING HOURS are Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
