70, of Cranston, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Kent Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Born in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Evangelina (Moniz) Freitas, and sister of the late Gale Gariepy. Cheryl is survived by her devoted friend and caretaker, Patricia Lonardo; her nephew, David Gariepy, his wife Elizabeth of Fall River, MA and their children, Julianne, Josephine and Abigail; her niece Denyelle Binette, her husband Paul and their daughter Caroline.

Cheryl worked as an officer for the Rhode Island Capitol Police, before transferring to the Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs where she worked at both the Garrahy Courthouse and the RI Supreme Court.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
