Christopher Lombardi, 87, of Cranston RI and Long Boat Key FL, passed away on Friday April 3 in Sarasota, FL. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Eileen (Palagi) Lombardi, his daughter Susan T. and her spouse Don Gordon, son Brian and his wife Susan M. and two granddaughters, Celia Rose and Addison James Lombardi. Born in Providence to the late James and Carmella (Matarese) Lombardi, he was preceded in death by his siblings James J. and Marie E. Lombardi.
Chris graduated from Cranston High School and after attending Norwich University for a year, transferred to the University of Rhode Island, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at URI he was initiated into the Sigma Nu fraternity. After graduation he worked at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT on various projects related to the space program. After that, he decided to return to RI and work with family as a real estate developer and builder. His companies included Pontiac Lumber, Dellwood Builders, The Realty House, and Realty Enterprises.
In addition, he owned and operated Susan Tracey's Restaurant on Pontiac Avenue in Cranston for many years. He also served for several years as a member of the City of Cranston – Tax Assessment Board of Review and on the Board of Directors for The Islander Club in Long Boat Key, Florida. Once retired, he enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, cooking for family and friends, card night at the condo, and time with his grand dogs.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday April 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Mark’s Church, 15 Garden Court, Cranston. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Providence Animal Rescue League, 31 Elbow St., Providence, RI 02903.
