Concetta (Barletta) Abbate

91, of Providence, RI passed away on November 5, 2016.

Concetta was the beloved wife of the late Anthony M. Abbate for 68 years, the devoted mother of her cherished sons Dr. Anthony M. Abbate of New Mexico, the Honorable Joseph A. Abbate of Providence, William D. Abbate of Buzzards Bay, MA, and the late David S. Abbate, and loving grandmother of Nicole M. Abbate and Leah M. Abbate.  She was the sister of the late Alexander Loffredio, Alphonse Barletta, and Antonio Barletta.

Concetta was born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Alfonso and Giovannina (LoBello) Barletta.  She was a faithful parishioner of St. Augustine Church and previous parishioner of St. Teresa's Parish in Providence, RI.  She was employed as a school aide at the William D'Abate Elementary School in Providence until retiring in 2009. She enjoyed many memorable years at her summer residence in Narragansett with her family and friends.  She will be most remembered for her deep faith in God, her unwavering dedication and love for her husband, sons and granddaughters, her compassion for all, and most certainly her favorite Italian meals and year-round holiday cookies.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.   Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI.  Entombment will take place in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum, St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI.
