Cosimo DeNucci

92, of Providence, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Cavalloro) DeNucci. Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Tomasso and Anna (Sferra) DeNucci.

As a member of the "Greatest Generation" he was an army veteran. He was proud to have served his country in the European Theatre Operation of World War II. Cosimo was a talented tile and terrazzo setter, working for various local tile companies. For more than 30 years he worked for ACME Tile and Terrazzo Company, and was a member of Local 36. He was part of their team who tiled the Thule Air Force Base in Greenland, again proudly serving his country. Various malls, churches, and public buildings still showcase his handiwork, which he was proud to point out. His work ethic was an example to us all. We wish to acknowledge the RI Veterans Home for their untiring love, care and concern. All Staff treated Carsie like family.

He is survived by his loving children, Thomas J. DeNucci and his wife Alice R. of Johnston, and Mary Anne Cullen and her husband Daniel P. of Cranston; cherished grandchildren Sarah M. DeNucci, Andrew B. Cullen, and Aaron B. Cullen; dear sister Marie "Carrie" Accetturo of Johnston. He was also the brother of the late Josephine DeNucci, Rose Zinni, Lena Campagnone, Anthony, Raymond and Domenic DeNucci, and dear cousin Caroline Laurenzo.
