Cynthia (Saccoccia) DiMaio, 79, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, after a courageous three‑year battle with cancer. She was the beloved daughter of Theodore and Palma (Ritacco) Saccoccia and the devoted wife of Michael DiMaio Jr. for 39 years.
Cynthia was a woman of quiet strength, creativity, curiosity, and deep love. A graduate of Bay View Academy and Rivier University, she dedicated her life to her family and to the many people she supported through her work at the Providence Athenaeum, Saccoccia’s Pharmacy, Harvard Health, and CVS Pharmacy.
She was an avid gardener, reader, and gifted cook, but above all, a devoted mother and grandmother whose steady love shaped her family’s life.
Cynthia is survived by her children, Alexandra M. DiMaio and her husband, Carlos, of New York, NY, and John T. M. DiMaio and his wife, Kaitlin, of Geneva, NY; her sisters Pamela Jackvony and Dorothea. Hussey of Cranston; her aunt, nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Apollo and Meila. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A wake will be held Tuesday, September 8th, from 4–7 p.m. at the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. Her funeral will leave from Nardolillo Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m.
Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, September 9th at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Burial at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, 6365 Post Road, North Kingstown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Ave., Providence, RI 02907. Memorial contributions may also be made to the Knightsville Library Association, 1847 Cranston St. Cranston, 02920 .
