a longtime resident of Bonnet Shores, Narragansett, RI, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born on July 2, 1953, in Providence, Daniel led a life of dedication to his family, community, and the causes he held dear.
A graduate of Cranston East High School, Daniel distinguished himself early, serving as Class President and remaining an active member of the reunion committee, fostering the friendships and bonds formed during his formative years. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in political science and education from Providence College, where he again was chosen by his peers as Class President and contributed significantly as a member of the Friars Club. These early achievements reflected Daniel’s lifelong commitment to service and leadership.
Daniel’s professional journey spanned more than 40 years in capital fundraising for non-profit organizations. His career was marked by tireless advocacy and a profound sense of responsibility to make a meaningful impact. Whether working to support local initiatives or collaborating with national organizations, Daniel’s vision and dedication made a lasting difference in countless lives.
His accomplishments extended beyond his professional sphere. At just 21 years old, Daniel was honored to serve on the Cranston School Committee, a testament to his drive and ability to inspire trust in those around him. He also served on the Board for Adoption RI, reflecting his unwavering commitment to children and families; a legacy felt throughout the Rhode Island community.Daniel was a passionate sports enthusiast and found joy on the golf course and in spirited games of cribbage and hi-lo jack with friends and family. As an avid New England sports fan and a proud member of Bonnet Shores Beach Club, Daniel’s laughter and camaraderie were cherished by all who had the pleasure of his company.
Nothing brought Daniel more pride than his family. He is survived by his beloved sons, Conor Daniel Barry and Sean Daniel Barry, and his granddaughter Hunter Barry, all of whom were the light of his life and the heart of his world.Daniel was predeceased by his loving wife, Carolyn (Fuyat) Barry; his dear daughter, Meghan Barry; his parents Thomas and Jeannette (McHale) Barry; and his brother, Thomas Barry, III.
His funeral will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 9am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory – SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett. Burial will be in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston. VISITING HOURS Thursday from 4-7pm.
