95, of Hollywood Florida, and Johnston, Rhode Island died peacefully on Friday August 22, 2014 at Vitas Hospice in Pembroke Pines Florida.
She was the wife of the late Richard Cute. Del Aurecchia was born in Johnston, Rhode Island in 1919. She later attended Rhode Island College of Education and graduated in one of its first classes in 1940. Upon graduation, she became a teacher at the Simmonsville School from 1940 to 1943. From 1943 to 1953 Del taught in Johnston at the Calef Junior High School. She then married Richard Cute and moved to Hollywood, Florida, where she taught English at Sourth Broward High School and Rogers Middle School, being nominated for teacher of the year. She then retired in 1974 after 34 years of teaching.
Del was a founding member of the Nativity Church in Hollywood, Florida and was also connected with St. Rocco's Church in Johnston, Rhode Island through the establishment of the Aurecchia Scholarship Fund. Del was a devoted ballroom dancer and in retirement was an Arthur Murray Dance Instructor. She was also an avid reader and was actively involved in the current affairs of her community.
Del was the sister of the late Walter, Luigi, Adolph, and Americo Aurecchia, Elissa Okerblom, and Anna DiRaimo. She is survived by her brothers Albert and Dean Aurecchia as well as nieces Lisa Aurecchia, Beth Anderson, Roseann St. Godard as well as nephews, Dennis Morrill, David Aurecchia and Steven Aurecchia. She is also survived by a great niece, Molly Anderson and great nephews Christopher St. Godard, Zachary St. Godard and Ian Anderson.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave. Cranston on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco's Church, Johnston at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
