In Loving Memory of Dennis Allen Davis
May 23, 1949 – May 14, 2025
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
Dennis Allen Davis, 75, of Sugar Land, TX, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, just days before his 76th birthday. He was the beloved husband of Annelise (Wollmann) Davis, with whom he shared a life filled with love, partnership, and purpose.
Born in Providence, RI, Dennis was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Lamphiere) Davis. He was a man of quiet strength, deep conviction, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Dennis lived a life marked by service, family, and community. A proud graduate of Cranston High School East class of 1968. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force, embodying the values of integrity, discipline, and commitment. After his time in the military, Dennis completed his degree at Rhode Island College class of 1975. Dennis continued his career in service through the United States Postal Service, where his consistency and reliability earned the trust and respect of his colleagues and community.
Never one to stand still, Dennis later owned and operated his own limousine company, Escort Limousine. He was lovingly nicknamed “Heavy D”.
But Dennis’s greatest joy came from his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Annelise; his devoted sons Matthew Davis and his wife Kerri and Trevor Davis; and his cherished grandchildren, Hunter Davis, Hailey Davis, and Joseph Davis. He was the dear brother of the late Joseph, Robert, and Doreen Davis, and leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends who were touched by his kindness, loyalty, and love.
As a football coach for many years. He has been privileged enough to have been able to be the coach of CLCF lightning bolts, Edgewood eagles where he became president and coach, continuing his coaching career he was the assistant coach of Bishop Hendricken, assistant coach of Pilgrim High School, Tollgate High School, assistant coach at Curry College, and the head coach of the New England woman’s professional football team “New England Storm”. Dennis mentored generations of young athletes—teaching not just the sport, but the values of perseverance, sportsmanship, and teamwork. He was a steady presence on and off the field, always leading with encouragement and quiet wisdom. His love for football—as both a coach and lifelong fan—was a cornerstone of who he was. Sundays were special days, filled with family, food, and the sound of the game playing in the background.
Dennis will be remembered for his kindness towards others, his generosity and his great sense of humor. He didn’t need to say much to make an impact—his actions spoke volumes. Whether it was family, an athlete, a colleague, or a neighbor, Dennis was always there with a steady hand and an open heart.
His legacy is one of strength, humility, service, and a deep devotion to others. After retiring to Houston, Texas, Dennis was employed by Hydra Offshore Construction. He always had a special connection with animals, finding peace and companionship in their presence. He was a dedicated volunteer at Rosenberg Animal Shelter
A memorial service to honor Dennis’s life will be held on Friday June 13, 2025 at 1:30pm in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, where family and friends will gather to share stories, celebrate his legacy, and say farewell to a man who gave so much of himself to others. A funeral procession will start at Nardolillo Funeral Home, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Cranston Animal Shelter, 920 Phenix Ave., Cranston, RI 02920.
He will be missed more than words can express, but his spirit will live on in every life he touched.
