Dennis W. Dubey

Dennis W. Dubey, 79, of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center. A proud Vietnam Veteran, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and beloved friend to many Dennis lived a life marked by service, humor, and unwavering loyalty to the people he cherished.

Born to Russell R. Dubey and Rita Y. (Bazinet) Dubey, Dennis grew up with a strong sense of duty that shaped every chapter of his life. He served his country with honor as a Specialist Four in the United States Army, Troop C, 1st Squadron, 10th Calvary, 4th Infantry Division. His bravery in Vietnam earned him both the Bronze Star Medal for heroism and the Purple Heart, distinctions that reflected not only his courage but his deep commitment to those who served beside him.

Following his military service, Dennis dedicated nearly three decades to the United States Postal Service, working from 1971 until his retirement in 2000. His role as a postal clerk was more than a job- it was a daily opportunity to connect with neighbors; brighten someone’s day and build the community he loved.

Dennis was affectionately known as “The Unofficial Mayor of Cranston,” a title he earned honestly. There were few places he could go without running into someone he knew, and even fewer where he did not make a new friend. His easy laugh, warm presence, and genuine interest in others made him unforgettable.

He was known for his infamous golfer’s tan, the result of countless summer days spent outdoors doing what he loved – enjoying the sun, the game and the company.

Dennis was the devoted husband and caregiver to his late wife, Lynda A. (Kennan) Dubey, whom he loved deeply and honored through his steadfast care. He is also predeceased by his father Russell R. Dubey; his mother, Rita Y. (Bazinet) Dubey, and his brother, Rev. Ronnie R. Dubey, OFM Cap.

He leaves behind a family that adored him, that will miss him terribly and terrifically; his daughter Danielle (Dubey) Delfino and her husband Phil, his granddaughter Jillian Delfino, and his sister Sandra L. (Dubey) Wilkerson and her husband Mitch.

Dennis’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched- through his service, his humor, his generosity, and his unmistakable presence in the Cranston community.
