Derek J. Chalmers

23, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Hasbro Children's Hospital, Providence. Born in Providence, he was a beloved son of John J. and Lynne A. (Buonaiuto) Chalmers of Cranston. Derek was a client at RHD, Pawtucket. He was a graduate of Cranston High School West, Class of 2011, and a graduate of Meeting Street School. Derek enjoyed the outdoors, tracking the weather, his music, and especially his family. In his 23 years he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Besides his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Justine L. Nedvidek, and her husband Jarrod of North Providence, Ian J. Chalmers and Sydney J. Chalmers, both of Cranston. Derek was the maternal grandson of Jennie (Saccoccio) Buonaiuto and Evelyn Buonaiuto, both of Cranston and the late Joseph D. Buonaiuto. He was the paternal grandson of Joan Girard of Pawtucket and John and Jean Chalmers, Sr. of Whitinsville, MA. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be private.
