Derek Sylvester Fields

34 of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 4, 2023. He leaves behind his loving wife Haley (Doster) Fields and their newborn son Zaymar Fields of Cranston, RI. Derek is survived by his mother Angelette Gorham of Syracuse, NY and his father Derrick Fields of Tampa, FL. Derek also leaves behind his sister Tanika Fields and brother Taureen Fields both of Syracuse, NY, and his sister Tasha Gnuschke of Biloxi, MS. Derek is also survived by his nana Betty Drayton of Boston, MA and his aunts Latrice Gorham and Arnetha Lewis. Awaiting him in Heaven are his grandparents Elnora Rodgers and Brenda Nunn and his father-in-law William Doster. Derek was the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind many close friends and extended family.

Derek’s one dream in life was to become a father and he was able to see that dream fulfilled with the birth of his son Zaymar “God’s gift” in November. He worked for the US Postal Service and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. Derek will be remembered as the first one on the dance floor at all the family functions. He was a kid at heart who loved anime, Star Wars, and all things Marvel but above all, he was a devoted and loving husband to Haley who will miss him immeasurably.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home.  Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS are Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
