Diana Gail Almonte

age 84, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and husband of 61 years, Peter A. Almonte. She was predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Lillian DiMuccio. She is also survived by her loving sons and daughters in laws: Peter Almonte Jr. and Melinda Almonte, of Narragansett, Mark Almonte and Donna Almonte, of Fullerton, California, and Christopher Almonte and Gizem Almonte, of Hermosa Beach, California. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Alexis Almonte, Andrew Almonte, Abigail Almonte, Brayden Almonte, Luna-Sofia Almonte, and Remy Almonte and one great grandchild Ariah Summers.  She also leaves her brother Kenneth DiMuccio and his wife Claudia DiMuccio of Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Diana graduated from Cranston High School in 1959 and received her Bachelor of Education Degree from Rhode Island College in 1963. She taught kindergarten at Glen Hills Elementary School for two years.

Next to her family, her passion was art and music. She loved painting. She established Interior Art where she served as a consultant selecting art pieces for businesses and professional offices. Diana was invited to be one of the first female Rotarians when she joined the East Greenwich Rotary bringing positive change to her local community.

Diana served on the board of directors for the Rhode Island Opera Company, Cranston Council for the Arts, and the board of directors for Music on the Hill. Her greatest joy was attending art exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Louvre Museum in Paris, Uffizi Museum in Florence, and Mozart concerts in Vienna and Budapest.

Those closest to Diana would describe her as devoted, compassionate, loving and someone with a true zest for life. She was a great friend to all, and someone you could always count on for a smile, a laugh and of course, stellar fashion advice.

Grateful thank you to Diana's caretakers Suomia, Leslie, and Kim, and to Hope Hospice, nurse Paige and caretakers Maggie and Celina.
