90, of Hope, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2014, at Hopkins Manor, North Providence. He was the beloved husband of twenty-four years to Mona R. (Manocchio) Cardente. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Thomas and Anna (Marsella) Cardente. Jake was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving during WW II. He was employed by the former US Naval Air Station, Quonset Point, the former Lincoln Downs Racetrack, and the former Smith's Restaurant in Providence. Jake was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Smithfield, and a former member of the St. Bernard Society. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Lorelei A. "Lory" Flynn and her husband Thomas of North Providence, Thomas Cardente and his wife Susan of Warwick, and Albert Cardente of Warwick. He was the cherished grandfather of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Sarah Paolissi of Addison, TX, and the late Mary Testa. He was the former husband of Verna Cardente of Cranston. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
