87, and 88 of Narragansett, he passed away December 24th, and she followed January 2nd in Jupiter, Florida while visiting their daughters. They were soulmates who were married for the past 62 years.
Donald was born on February 20, 1927 in Providence the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (McDonald) Lally. Frances was also born in Providence on August 31, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John and Alice (O'Connor) Geoghegan. He was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and she was a graduate of St. Patrick's High. Donald was a retired manager for N.E. / Verizon Telephone Company for 40 years, and Frances was a loving homemaker to their 4 children, raising them in Riverside and enjoying summers at Kendbrin Swim Club and Green Hill Beach. Donald served proudly in the US Navy. He served during both WW II and Korean Wars and was a member of the first NATO Naval Operations. He was Past Chairman of Self Inc. of East Providence, Past Chairman of East Providence Mental Health, Past Twice Commander of Fox Point American Legion Post # 89, member of the East Providence Democratic City Committee Ward # 4 Riverside, Baseball Coach for St. Joseph's Cleary School Fox Point, Past Manager of the Little League Teams in Riverside They are survived by their loving children, Joan Lally and Maribeth Lally of Jupiter , Florida, Rep. Donald J. Lally, Jr and his wife Sandra of Narragansett and Richard J. Lally of Narragansett. They were also the cherished grandparents of Jessica and Connor. Besides his children and grandchildren he is survived by his sister Mildred McGovern of Narragansett and was also the brother of the late Marjorie Lally. Frances was the sister of the late Dr. Jack Geoghegan, James "Gerry" Geoghegan, Miriam Carey, Barbara Mulshenock, Virginia DePetro and Mary Gervais. Relatives and friends are invited to attend their Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Star of the Sea, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial will take place in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Military Honors will also be presented in honor of Donald's service to his country.
