Donald F. "Don" Macdonald, III

age 53, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind family and many friends who loved him deeply and will remember him with affection.

Born in Providence and raised in Exeter, Narragansett, and South Kingstown, Rhode Island, Don developed a lifelong love for the ocean and the outdoors. He spent many years working as a fisherman out of Galilee, Rhode Island, and in his younger years worked as a landscaper. An avid gardener, Don found peace and solace in tending the earth and was happiest when surrounded by nature. Whether on the water, caring for his gardens, or simply spending time outside, he was most at home beneath the open sky.

Don was a sensitive and generous man who cared deeply for others. He had a kind heart and was always willing to help someone in need. Those who knew him will remember his compassion, his quiet strength, and the friendships he formed throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving mother, Elizabeth Macdonald of Jamestown, Rhode Island; his sister, Katherine Fotiades of Scituate, Rhode Island; his son, Ezra Foss of Vermont; his daughters, Juniper Parks of Charlestown, Rhode Island, and Fern Parks of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; his beloved granddaughter, Penelope; his niece and goddaughter, Krystal Sherman, who held a special place in his heart; his nephews, Seth and George, and his niece, Sage; his great-nieces, Kaia, Leda, and Nina; and many other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.

Don shared a special bond with animals and was especially devoted to his dogs. He is also survived by his faithful companion, Stella, and will be remembered for the love and care he gave to every dog who shared his life.

Though his passing came far too soon, Don will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love. May those who knew and loved him think of him when they find peace beside the ocean, in the garden, beneath the open sky, or in the quiet companionship of a faithful dog.
