of Cranston passed away at home on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Laura (Brown) Ventetuolo. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Mary C. (Magliocco) and Joseph Ventetuolo, Sr.
Donald was a graduate of Cranston High School and Southern Illinois University where he played football and earned a Masters of Education. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War Era and will be remembered for his commitment to public service. He is much respected for his work as Assistant Principal at John F. Deering Junior High School, adjunct professor at Roger Williams University, and as an administrator with the RI Department of Corrections and the RI Division of Sheriffs. Donald served on the boards of the Cranston YMCA and West Bay Residential Services and he was a recipient of Justice Assistance's Neil J. Houston, Jr. Memorial Award.
Donald was the devoted and loving father of Lisa L. Ventetuolo and her husband David Miller of Cranston, Sara B. Ventetuolo Uronis and her husband Will of Somerville, MA, and Joanna Dunn and her husband Kevin of Barrington. He was the proud grandfather of Harry, Max, Ellie, and Andrew Dunn and David and Ryan Miller. He was the cherished brother of Mary V. Gliottone of Cranston and the late Anthony Ventetuolo, Sr., Joseph Ventetuolo, Jr., and Edward Ventetuolo. He was a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews and his devotion to and love for his family and friends was unwavering.
Funeral from the Nardolillo Funeral Home, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Tuesday at 8:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial an 9:30 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Ave., Cranston. Burial with military honors will take place in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-8 pm.
