Dorothy Ann (DeSimone) Cianci

With heavy hearts, we announce that Dorothy A. Cianci, 86, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 18, 2026. She was the devoted wife of Louis R. Cianci, with whom she shared more than 57 years of love, commitment, and countless treasured memories.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Saccoccio) DeSimone.

Dorothy dedicated many years of her life as a hairdresser, a profession that reflected her warm personality and genuine love of connecting with people. Throughout her career, she built lasting friendships and made everyone who sat in her chair feel welcome, cared for, and valued.

Her Catholic faith was at the core of who she was, and it provided her with comfort, strength, and peace, especially at the end of every day when she prayed the Rosary. Dorothy was a devoted parishioner of Saint Mary’s Church and a dedicated member of the St. Mary’s Feast Society Ladies’ Auxiliary, where she shared her time and her delicious homemade egg biscuits any time there was an event that called for baked goods.

In addition to her husband, Louis, she is survived by her loving daughters, Donna Cianci Vicca and her husband, James, of Johnston, and Diane Capirchio and her husband, Thomas, of Cranston. She was adored by her grandchildren, Emma, Stephen, and Derek Capirchio, who brought immeasurable pride and happiness to her life. She was predeceased by her siblings, Mary DeSimone, Pasquale DeSimone, and Palma Robinson. She is also survived by her cherished godchild, Andrea Thivierge, and many loving nieces and nephews. Lastly, she will be dearly missed by her faithful granddog, Massimo, who never failed to bring a smile to her face.

Though Dorothy's family mourns the loss of her comforting presence, the love that she gave so freely and selflessly and the memories she created with them will remain in their hearts forever. Her legacy of compassion, humility, and unwavering devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
