Dorothy D. Decker (Shores) (79) born on January 20, 1935, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, resident of Narragansett, RI, formerly of Orange, CT, left this world on June 6, 2014. Wife of the late Colonel George A. Decker US Army and Senior Project Engineer for Black & Decker for over 50 years. Mother of George A. Decker, Jr. (wife Karen ) grandmother to Audrey Decker and Renee Decker of Basking Ridge, NJ. Mother of Mark O. Decker (fiancAC. Sarah ) grandmother to George Decker of Saunderstown , RI. Daughter of the late Philip and Beatrice (Vandal) Shores. Sister of Susan Hogan (husband Paul) of Plainfield , CT. formerly Warwick , RI. Aunt to Scott Hogan of Mystic, CT, Michael Hogan of North Kingstown, RI, and Matthew Hogan of Plainfield, CT. Sister-in-law of the late Beverly Decker. She was a graduate of URI, and she was a registered dietician and business owner of DDD Nutrition Services Inc. After graduation she worked for Simmons College while pursuing her certification. She was a homemaker for many years until starting her own consulting business, DDD Nutrition Services, Inc. During the early 70's she and her family lived in Singapore for six years. She also worked for Yale University doing research for Lipodemia Clinic. They visited many foreign locations in Asia and Europe enroute on their trips home every summer to their home in Narragansett, RI. She enjoyed her yearly summer reunions with her sorority sisters of Chi Omega. On every 4th of July, she hosted a family cookout which was a family tradition for 50 years at their second home in Narragansett. The cookout was followed by boat rides around Narragansett Bay and Salt Pond, followed by watching the evening fireworks held at Old Mountain Field in Wakefield . Dorothy will be dearly missed by her family. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 am from the Nardolillo Funeral Home SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL 1111 Boston Neck Rd., (Rte. 1A) Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary's Star of the Sea, Narragansett. Burial will take place in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 6-8 pm.
