Pastor Douglas R. Scott, PhD, 57, of Smith St., North Providence, RI, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. Born in Pawtucket, he was the devoted son of Lila I. (Borge) Scott of East Providence and the late Roger C. Pinyon.
Pastor Doug was a graduate of Bryant College and received his PhD in Theology from Trinity Evangelical Christian University. A pastor for 10 years, he was the founder of New Hope Community Baptist Church in North Providence. He was a U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army Ranger veteran and former dispatcher and Smithfield Police Officer.
Besides his mother, he was the dear father of Stephanie L. Schultz of Alexander City, Alabama and loving grandfather of Elizabeth, Quincy Jr., Israel and Ezekiel.
His Funeral Service to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held on Thursday, January 28th at 7 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. VISITING HOURS are from 4 to 7 p.m. prior to Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: New Hope Community Baptist Church, 1373 Smith St., North Providence, RI 02911.
