Dr. Srecko J. Pogacar

of Cranston, died on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Briarcliff Gardens in Johnston.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Aida Kessimian Pogacar, DMD, his sister Marusa Pogacar Solar of Ljubljana, Slovenia, his two sons, Andre Pogacar of New York City and Dr. Peter Pogacar of East Greenwich, four grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dr. Pogacar was a neurologist, neuropathologist and psychiatrist who was the Chief of Psychiatric Services at Kent County Memorial Hospital from 1979-1988 and again from 1989-1992. He also maintained a private practice on Post Road in East Greenwich and on Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston before retiring in 2016. He was born in 1928 in Ljubljana, Slovenia and emigrated to the U.S.in 1965.  He also held teaching positions at several medical schools, including Harvard and Brown Universities.

His funeral will be private.
