81, of Cranston, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Rhode
Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Martha (Rand) Grant.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late C. Weston and Ethel
(Persson) Grant.
He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a photographer during the
Korean War, meeting a young Senator Jack Kennedy and his wife Jackie.
He also worked as a photographer at The Celebrity Club, trading camera
and photo tips with entertainers like Sammy Davis, Jr.
He was a master chain mechanic in the jewelry industry for many years
until his retirement. Early on, he had been celebrated as a top
apprentice.
A skill draftsman, he appreciated art, whether in fine art galleries,
in nature, or in film. He loved sports, routing for his favorite
teams: the Providence College Friars, the Boston Celtics, and the
Boston Patriots. And, starting in his fifties, he became an avid
golfer.
An easygoing and affable conversationalist with a great sense of
humor, he will be missed by friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and
loved ones alike.
He is survived by his children, Vickie Guertin, Stephanie Dutra,
Angelynn Grant, Peter W. Grant, and their mother, Josephine A. Grant;
7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 2 stepchildren Kathleen and
Christopher Kram; and 5 step-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Friday at 6:00 p.m. in the
Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston.
Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Burial
will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
