Edith D. (Tavarozzi) Martinelli

91, passed away Thursday April 28, 2016.  She was the wife of 62 years to the late William A. Martinelli.

She was born in Providence on June 11, 1924 a daughter of the late Antonio and Carmela (Corvese) Tavarozzi.

In 1968 she became the proud co-owner and manager of Brides Showcase in the Midland Mall, Warwick, the first mall of its kind in the area, until her retirement in 1998.  Previously she was the owner of the Miss & Mrs. Shoppe in Centerdale for over 25 years.

Edith was a graduate of Central High School, a member of the Alpine Country Club and parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Church.

She is survived by her two children; William Martinelli of Florida and Jean Martinelli and his wife Paula of Johnston; the beloved grandmother of Elizabeth and Antonio Martinelli of Johnston.  She was the sister of Leonora Ferranti of North Kingstown and the late Caroline D’Ambra, Frank, Edward and Antonio Tavarozzi.

Edith loved her family, her pets, her golf and politics!

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 8:45am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston at 10am.  Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS Sunday 4-7pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Church & Charitable Ministries 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI 02919.
