Edmund Plociak, 82 of Smithfield passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 25, 2026. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edmund and Helen Plociak. He was the beloved husband for just shy of 63 years of Barbara Plociak, his high school sweetheart.

He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and then attended Wentworth University. He later went to Northeastern University where he received his bachelor’s degree in engineering. Prior to his retirement he was in the telecommunications industry for over 40 years, working for New England Telephone, AT&T, and then Qwest. There wasn’t a problem he couldn’t find a solution to, always finding a way to fix anything and everything. In his free time, he looked forward to spending time with his family and friends, whether it was at the lake house on Johnson’s Pond, engaging in water skiing or boating, or enjoying their condo on Goat Island in Newport.

Besides his wife he is survived by his two sons Mark Plociak and his wife Peggy, and Kevin Plociak and his wife Patty. He was the cherished grandfather of Fallon, Alana, and Lauren Plociak. He was the devoted brother of Joyce E. Langfield and her husband Steven.

His funeral will leave at 9:15 am on Saturday June 6, 2026, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Rocco’s Church, 927 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Followed by his burial in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITING HOURS will be held on Friday June 5, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Hope Health Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
