Edward A. Alves

88, of Johnston, a retired carpenter, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2023 at HopeHealth Hospice, Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie J. (Conti) Alves. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Sebastiao and Maria E. (Gomes) Alves. He had lived in Johnston for most of his life. Mr. Alves had been a carpenter with Carl Malmborg & Son, Inc. for 15 years before retiring in 1998. He had previously worked at United Wire and Supply Corp. for 27 years until it closed. Edward served 8 years with the U.S. Naval Reserves Aviation Division. He was always known for his famous Thanksgiving dinners, and loved to travel especially to Las Vegas and Hawaii.

Edward was the dear brother of the late Anthony E. Alves and Beatrice E. Peleni. He is survived by his nieces & nephews, Cynthia Nadolny, Linda Nordquist, Catherine Conti Cornell, Cheryl Andrews, Alfred Conti, Jr., Stephen A. Peleni and Kimberly B. Peleni. He is also survived by several great nieces & nephews.

His funeral service will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday, February 22nd at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will precede his service from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
