age 100 of Cranston, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Veronica G. (Colarusso) Cornell. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (McCartin) Cornell.
Mr. Cornell worked in the oil industry and was a superintendent for Arco before retiring in 1986. A WW-II U.S. Army veteran he served in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister; a member of St. Joseph Men’s Guild; Knights of Columbus-Cranston Council 1; DAV Chapter 10; and F.O.P.A. Lodge 30, Scituate.
Mr. Cornell was the devoted father of Donald E. Cornell and his wife Karen of Chapel Hill, NC, Patricia M. Baligian and her husband Arlin of Clermont, FL; and Ann Murphy and her husband Patrick of Cranston; cherished grandfather of Erin Horton and her husband Josh, Rena Zito and her husband Jim, Adam Baligian and his wife Krissy, April Erb and her wife Brittany, Shane Murphy, and Dana Read and her husband Richard; loving great-grandfather of Milo, Charlie, Athen and Hayden, and dear brother of the late Thomas, Charles and Joseph Cornell.
VISITING HOURS are Tuesday morning, September 23rd, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hill Dr., Cranston at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
