Edward F. Holland, Sr

Edward F. Holland, Sr., former RI State Senator 84, of Cranston, formerly of Matunuck, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Westview Health Care Center, West Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor Q. (Webster) Holland. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Edward W. and Wilhelmina (Holdbrook) Holland. Edward was a cartographer for Defensive Mapping Agency for thirty-seven years before his retirement. He was a former RI State Senator, District #6 South Kingstown and Block Island. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Cynthia Holland Matarese of Cranston, Edward F. Holland, Jr. of Fall River, MA, Stephen P. Holland of Indiana, his step-children Raymond Quirk, James Quirk, and Caroline Gorham, all of South County. He was the cherished grandfather of eleven, and the great-grandfather of one great-granddaughter.. Edward was the brother of Patricia North of AZ, Mary Jane Lovett of West Warwick, Brian Holland of Narragansett, and Kathy Roberts of Chepachet. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, 15 Garden Court, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Friday 4-7 p.m.
