Elaine Valerie (Syrocki) Regopoulos

86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Born in Meriden, Connecticut, on September 22, 1940, Elaine was the eldest of three daughters of the late Adam and Lydia (Dolega) Syrockiand was raised in New Britain. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1962 and moved to New York City, where she worked for Time-Life. In 1966, Elaine married her husband, Peter Regopoulos, who predeceased her in 2001, and they settled in Rhode Island. After more than a decade in Cranston, Elaine and Peter moved to East Greenwich in 1980, where they remained.

A wonderful mother, Elaine was truly devoted to raising her daughters and spending time with family, while pursuing her exceptional talent as an artist. She specialized in oils, watercolors, and pastels, and her work was featured in shows and local galleries. Throughout her career, Elaine taught adult painting classes, inspiring her students to develop their skills. She enjoyed spending her later years working at a fine art and scrimshaw gallery in Wickford and serving as a community arts instructor in Wakefield. Elaine was also an animal lover and had a great appreciation for nature, current events, and history. She was a longstanding member of the Church of the Annunciationin Cranston.

Elaine is survived by two daughters, Andrea and her husband Lap Cheng of Milton, MA, and Lydia Regopoulos and her husband Luke Porter of Westwood, MA. She will also be dearlymissed by her granddaughter Ava Cheng, grandson Alec Cheng, and step-granddaughter Alice Porter. Elaine was the beloved sister of Christine Robinson of Dayville, CT, and Martha Chiarappa of West Hartford, CT, and the sister-in-law of Richard Chiarappa, the late Ronald Robinson, and the late James Scarfe.She leaves behind seven much-loved nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 1, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on Friday, October 2, at 10:30 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 am, at the Nardolillo Funeral Home, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston.
