Elena (Saccoccio) Mercurio

91, of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Cra-Mar Meadows, Cranston. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Mercurio, Sr. Born in Cranston, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Marietta (Meschino) Saccoccio. Elena was a secretary at Union Oil Company of California for fifteen years before her retirement. She served as recording secretary for the PTA and was a leader for the “Bluebirds” girls group when her children were in school. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church prayer group.

She is survived by her loving children Joseph A. Mercurio, Jr. and his wife Jane of Clermont, FL and Dona M.E. Grande and her husband David of Hope. Elena was the mother of late Steven J. Mercurio. She was the cherished grandmother of six and great-grandmother of seven. Elena was the sister of the late Albert Saccoccio, Joseph Saccoccio, Antonetta Mancini, Gilda Comella, and Josephine Saccoccio.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
