Elsie E. (Salzillo) D'Ambra
92, formerly of Johnston, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Roberts Health Centre in North Kingstown. She was the beloved wife of the late Edmund T. D'Ambra. Born in Johnston, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Theresa (Russo) Salzillo.
Elsie was a voracious reader and worked at the Mirian J. Mohr Memorial Library in Johnston for 15 years before retiring. She was very active at the Johnston Senior Center and was a volunteer at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. Elsie will be remembered for hosting memorable family gatherings highlighted by her amazing recipes.
She was the devoted mother of Donna L. Thomsen and her husband Michael of North Scituate and Diane J. Cardin and her husband Paul of Jamestown; loving grandmother of Kristin Cardin, Erica Elefsiades, Brian Thomsen and Jessica Baxter; loving mimi of five; and dear sister of Albert Salzillo of Johnston and the late Emily Lombardi, Carmella Vacca, Carlo Salzillo, Vincent "China" Salzillo, Jennie Esposito and Louise Placella. Elsie also leaves many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Her funeral will be private.
