Emmett Tate

94, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2015, at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Carrie Lee (Owens) Tate. Born in Benton, Mississippi, he was a son of the late Will and Lula Mae (Turner) Tate. Emmett was a truck driver employed by the City of Cleveland as a truck driver for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the Prince Hall of Masons. Emmett is survived by his loving children, Irene Mitchell of St. Louis, MO, Jerry A. Tate and his wife Katherine of Cleveland, OH and Carolyn E. Kpea and her husband Nomate of Wakefield. He was the cherished grandfather of ChereAC., VurAC., Charles, Leesi, Leera, and Shannon, and the great-grandfather of Chaiyana, Chaina, and Jeremiah. Emmett was the brother of L.C. Tate of Mississippi, Herbert Tate of Chicago, IL and was pre-deceased by seven brother and sisters. His funeral services and burial will be private.
