91, of Cranston, entered eternal life on Tuesday November 4, 2014. She passed peacefully surrounded by her four children. Esther was born on May 17, 1923. She was the beloved wife of the late Domenic Lonardo with whom she celebrated for 55 years of marriage.
Esther's spirit is survived by her four children: Lucille, Patricia, Architect Thomas (and wife Doreen) Lonardo, all of Cranston, and Lorraine Lonardo of Warwick.
She was preceded in death by her parents Pasquale & Pasqualina Caruso; her husband Domenic; and her sister Alvira Sousa and her loving brothers Peter & Anthony Caruso.
She was the loving grandmother of Robert, Raina, Derek, Talia, Tiana and Dallas Lonardo and great-grandmother to Kayleigh Rose, Kaleb and Domenic, who were blessed to call her "Gram". All of them she loved dearly.
She was born and raised in the heart of Federal Hill, where she and her family established Caruso's Fruit Stand in De Pasquale Square. Later in life she worked for the Bulova Watch Company and the Cranston School system, working as a food service worker in the kitchen at Park View School.
She was a women of magnanimous compassion. She always had a kind word for everyone and took care of so many family members. She had a passion for cooking and you could never leave her home without her making you something to eat.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the St. Jude's Society of St. Agnes Church.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 8, at 9:00 a.m. from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cranston. Visiting hours will be on Friday November 7, 2014 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
