Eugene K. Murphy
52, passed away on Saturday February 14, 2015 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of Miriam (Marcelin) Murphy. Born in Anchorage, AK he was the son of Sondra (Knight) Murphy and the late Melvin Murphy, Jr.
Eugene was employed in the engineering department of Amtrak for over 30 years. He also received a degree from New England Tech in Electrical Engineering. Eugene was a member of the New Covenant Church International (NCCI). His passions were shooting pool, riding his motorcycle, but most of all spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Derrick Murphy of Cranston, Demetrius Murphy and Darius Murphy both of Warwick; grandson Zelino Norton; twin brother Duane Murphy, of Providence, sisters Djuna Hopes of Charlotte, NC, Theresa Murphy of Providence, and Patricia Murphy of Charlotte, NC; uncle of Alexandria, Dakota and Danielle; Eugene is also survived by many cousins.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Historic Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence, RI 02906. VISITING HOURS will be Monday from 4- 8 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Meeting Street School in memory of Eugene Murphy, 1000 Eddy Street, Providence, RI 02905.
