Filomena A. "Dolly" (Solitro) Rossi

83, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at South County Hospital, surrounded by her beloved family.

She was the cherished wife of Vincent Rossi, with whom she shared sixty beautiful years of marriage. Born in Providence, Dolly was the devoted daughter of the late Michael Solitro and Francesca (Ceglia) Solitro.

Dolly is survived by her three loving children: Vincent Rossi III and his wife Pamela, Maria Branca and her husband Rudolph, and Stephanie Rossi and her companion Greg Spremulli. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Samantha Susi and her husband Mario, Victoria Bechard and her husband Andrew, Francesca Almberg and her husband Ryan, Rudolph Branca Jr., Julia Altieri and her husband Nicola, and Antonia Restivo and her husband Alec.

Her joy multiplied with the birth of her two great-granddaughters, Rose Susi and Valentina Almberg, who brought her tremendous pride and happiness in her later years.

Dolly was predeceased by her five beloved brothers: Pasquale Solitro, Lawrence (Larry) Solitro, Michael Solitro, Armando Solitro, and George Solitro.

A graduate of St. Xavier Academy, Dolly embraced a life grounded in faith, family, and service. She spent over fifty years working at her family's cherished business, Solitro’s Bakery, side by side with her brothers, in the heart of the community she loved. She found immense joy in working with her family and building lasting relationships with customers who became lifelong friends.

Dolly will always be remembered as the heart and soul of her large Italian family. Her love was most often expressed through her cooking — warm meals, homemade pastries, and an open door for anyone in need of comfort or company. She found profound purpose in hosting Sunday breakfasts, family dinners, holiday celebrations, and countless impromptu gatherings that created memories spanning generations. These traditions, lovingly carried on by her children and grandchildren, are a living testament to her enduring legacy.

A devout Catholic, Dolly was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Cranston, where she faithfully attended Mass every Saturday evening and participated in numerous parish events. Her deep spirituality was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her with grace and humility. She was also a proud member of the Regina Coeli Society, through which she deepened her connection to her faith and her community.

To those who knew her, Dolly was a quiet force of love, resilience, and generosity. Her strength, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will remain an inspiration to all whose lives she touched. We are truly blessed to have known her and will carry her spirit with us always.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston, RI 02921.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
