84, of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at South County Hospital in Wakefield, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Jeanne F. (Rogers) Mattiucci. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Francis E. Mattiucci, Sr. and Mary A. (Devitt) Mattiucci.
A man of deep Christian faith, Frank lived his life guided by kindness, humility, and compassion. His faith was the foundation of his life and was reflected in the way he treated others, always with patience, generosity, and respect.
Above all else, Frank was devoted to his family. To his grandchildren, Emily Russell, Matthew Russell, and Caitlin Russell, he was lovingly known as “Pa,” a title he wore with immense pride and joy. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, lending a helping hand, or simply being present, he created lasting memories and a legacy of love that will live on through those who knew him best.
Frank devoted his life to education and public service. A graduate of LaSalle Academy, Class of 1959, and Rhode Island College, Class of 1963, he began his teaching career at just 21 years old and spent 35 years teaching English in the Coventry School System, inspiring generations of students with his love of language, literature, and learning. His dedication to serving others also included work with the City of Cranston and the University of Rhode Island.
Frank found great happiness in the outdoors, especially his time spent on Narrow River. He was an avid fisherman, a dedicated gardener, and a gifted woodworker. He loved working with his hands, building, repairing, and creating. Family and friends often remarked that there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. His patience, ingenuity, and willingness to help others were among the many qualities that made him so special.
More than his accomplishments, Frank will be remembered for the man he was: kind, loving, dependable, and humble. He touched countless lives as a teacher, mentor, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His steady presence, gentle spirit, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
He was the devoted father of Mary-Ellen Russell and her husband, Keith, of East Greenwich, and Francis E. Mattiucci III of Coventry; the cherished and proud grandfather of Emily Russell, Matthew Russell, and Caitlin Russell; and the dear brother of James Mattiucci and his wife, Sandra, of South Kingstown. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, former students, and dear friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 5th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nardolillo Funeral Home, Cranston. His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 6th, at 8:45 a.m. from the Nardolillo Funeral Home, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 15 Garden Court, Cranston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
Though his presence will be profoundly missed, the lessons he taught, the lives he touched, and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him forever.
