85, of Cranston, passed away Monday February 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Janet A. (Pieranunzi) Abbate. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Domenica (DeLuca) Abbate.
Frank was a salesman at Sears Roebuck and Company for 30 years and was the co-owner of several dry cleaning businesses allowing him to retire at the ripe age of 55. He was a US Army veteran and an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He will always be remembered as a kind hearted, loving and a perfect gentlemen and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves three children, Stephen Abbate of Hope, Carolyn Sczerbinski and her husband Joseph, and Lori Foley and her husband John, both from Cranston.
He was the brother of Beatrice Ursillo and the companion of Hannah Mottola.
He leaves six grandchildren, Nicholas, Kara, and David Sczerbinski, Michael and Lauren Foley and Kristin Abbate. Frank was the father of the late Vincent S. Abbate and brother of the late Anthony and Michael Abbate and the late Jennie Collins.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston on Friday at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco's Church, 931 Atwood Ave. Johnston at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
