A son of the late Frank and Filomena (Parrillo) Garzilli passed away peacefully on Tuesday, the 24th of June, 2014. He is survived by his brothers Enrico, Richard, and Robert Garzilli, and his sister-in-law Lucy (DiBiasio) Garzilli. He is also survived by his nieces Lisa Garzilli and Donna (Michael) Swain, and his great nephews Brody, Luke, Matthew, and Gregory, and his great niece Bella. A beloved teacher, Frank taught in East Providence, a school for gifted children in Long Island, New York, and for more than thirty years in Narragansett. Teaching was very important to Frank and he gave his heart and soul at becoming a truly superb teacher. He had a great respect, compassion and lasting warmth for his many students. Frank had a prodigious memory and could recite long passages from Shakespeare and the Bible. He never forgot any of his students and would speak of them fondly. Frank held a BA from Providence College and a Masters Degree in Education from Rhode Island College. An avid gardener and conservationist, he loved to spend time in his beautiful gardens among his many flowers. In addition, Frank loved music and was a wonderful performer on the mandolin. He also was especially fond of classic films and was truly pleased to have been in seventy- five movies, beginning with Mr. North and Mystic Pizza and most recently, Passionada. Frank had a great sense of humor and always had a joke for his treasured students and friends. Whether teaching, working in the family bakery or just being a good friend and brother, Frank excelled. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Many thanks to the compassionate and excellent nursing staff at Scallop Shell.
