of South Hill Drive, Cranston, died peacefully on March 10, 2016 at the age of 92 surrounded by his family. Frank lived a remarkable life and will be remembered and missed by his family and many friends. Shortly after graduating from La Salle Academy, Frank joined the United States Army Air Force to defend his country in World War II. Frank served as a1st Lieutenant Lead Navigator in the 460th Bomb Group based in Italy where he flew more than 25 missions in the B-24 Liberator. Frank returned home safely after the war and earned his engineering degree from the University of Rhode Island school of Mechanical Engineering. In 1954 Frank married the love of his life, Ella M. (Rocchio) Sarra, and they remained inseparable for more than half a century until Ella's death in 2014. Together, Frank and Ella raised four children and never ceased being loving and proud parents. Frank founded and managed for more than 63 years Sarra Engineering Co, a successful mechanical contracting company that designed and installed HVAC systems for commercial, industrial and educational facilities such as Rhode Island Hospital and the Citizens Bank Building; his son Frank Jr. continues in the business today. Frank was an avid golfer and served as president of the Alpine Country Club. He also served as president of the RI Heating and Cooling Council. Frank leaves his four children, Nancy Forte and her husband Jim, Ginger Hesse and her husband John, Lori Petros and her husband Jerry, and Frank Sarra Jr. and his wife Elizabeth; and seven grandchildren, Christopher, Megan, Justin, Nick, Mark, Alec and Emily.His funeral will be held on Monday at 9 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary's Church, Providence. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Monday morning 8-9 am .
