73, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Estelle (Ramieri) Bassi for 44 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Raviele) Bassi.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Paula Welch of Providence, Maria Ross of Cranston, Fred Bassi of Cranston, and Laura Turini of Rehoboth, MA; cherished grandchildren Nicolas, Noah, Jillian, Elliot, Natalie, Madeline, Francis and Sebastian; dear siblings William Bassi of Cranston, Elena Ciccone of Providence, and Maria Lauro of Florida.
Fred worked in the electrical field his entire life. He owned and operated an electrical business for many years, later moving on to the City of Providence as the Chief Electrical Inspector, retiring in July of 2017 to Port Charlotte, FL. Prior to that he served in the Air National Guard. He was a mentor to many in his field. Fred loved cooking, tinkering, collecting, camping and spending time with his family. He was an avid story teller and great teacher of many things. He was selfless in nature, always sacrificing for his family.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Friday from 4 - 8 p.m.
