G. Paul 'Jake' Jacome

Of Cranston, formerly of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Paul fought his courageous battle with cancer for the last 3 years with dignity, strength and acceptance. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Florese A. (Cianfarani) Jacome. He was born in Bristol, on October 23, 1933 to the late Gabriel and Naomi (Ayers) Jacome. After graduating from LaSalle Academy, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served a 13 month tour of duty in the Korean War. After 3 years of service he received an honorable discharge, then attended the University of Rhode Island under the GI Bill and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. While attending URI he was Captain of the baseball team his sophomore, junior and senior years. During the summers he played in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League as the starting catcher for the Wareham Mariners. He was a true sports enthusiast and was a fanatic New York Yankees fan. Paul was the owner of Jacome-Joyce Insurance Agency in Pawtucket from 1969 until he retired in 1998. He also had a tax preparing service from 1969-2013. He was a member of the Pawtucket Country Club for 38 years and won the Rhode Island Golf Association Jr. /Sr. State Championship in 1981. He was passionate about baseball, golf, woodworking, fishing, gardening, great food, and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. His greatest joy in life was attending his granddaughter Shannon's dance recitals, voice concerts and plays, along with attending every single sporting event that his grandsons, Nicholas and Tyler participated in. Besides his wife he is survived by his treasured daughters, Kimberly Tuffy and her husband Christopher of Cumberland, Nadine Provost and her husband Karl also of Cumberland, and Jill D'Aguanno and her husband Marc of Cranston and his two daughters Christina and Jaclyn. He also leaves behind his 3 cherished grandchildren, Shannon, Nicholas and Tyler, and a loving sister Joyce Barros of Plympton, MA. He is predeceased by his brother Arthur Jacome, a sister, Patricia Sousa and a brother Peter Pimentel. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, which helped carry him through his final days. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
