Gary J. Plante

66, of Cranston, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Susan (Noel) Plante.

He enjoyed a fulfilling career as a senior maintenance technician for the State of Rhode Island, from which he retired.

As a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures, Gary was a dedicated family man who adored his children and grandchildren. He was the proud father of Dylan Plante and his significant other Amanda Maddalena of Cranston, Cameron Plante of Cranston, Kyle Phillips and his wife Christina of Cranston, and Katelyn Gomes and her husband Branden of Warwick. He also embraced the role of grandfather to Hannah Phillips, Austin McIntyre, Bradley Johnson, Maia Gomes, and Rian Gomes, with whom he shared many special moments and memories.

Gary was also a beloved brother to Lisa Magnone and her husband Paul of Johnston and Maureen Kershaw and her husband Bob of Chepachet. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind his uncle Eddy Noel of Providence and is remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.

A man of many talents, Gary devoted much of his free time to hobbies that reflected his artistic spirit. His love for music was profound; he not only built guitars but played a variety of instruments with passion. He was particularly fond of The Beatles, often sharing that love with family and friends through song. Additionally, he cherished fishing throughout his life, which provided him with peace and relaxation. Known as the beloved neighborhood handyman, Gary was always there to lend a helping hand, earning the respect and affection of those around him.

Gary's love for animals was central to his character, reflecting his compassionate nature. He also had a unique appreciation for corvettes and treasured family get-togethers, where he created lasting memories with his loved ones.

Visitation will be held at Nardolillo Funeral Home, located at 1278 Park Ave, Cranston, RI 02910, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family invites all who knew Gary to join them in honoring a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and a deep connection to family and friends. He will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
