George J. Mitchell

Born on Christmas Day 1935, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016.  He was the beloved husband of Anne (Mello) Mitchell for 52 years.  Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Charles and Hazel (Rounds) Mitchell.

He was the loving father of David and his wife Laurie Mitchell of Cranston and Michael Mitchell of Cranston.  Dear brother of Charles and his wife Kathleen Mitchell of Charlestown and brother of the late William Mitchell of Narragansett.  Proud grandfather of Alexander, Shannon, Alisha, Sarah, Joseph and Elijah.

He was activated along with the National Guard during the Cuban Crisis and served with the 107th Signal Corps.

George worked as a journeyman plumber for Local #28 for many years, retiring from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #51 after they merged.

George was a kind and caring man who loved the classic car he restored almost as much as his family.  He was a good man, who loved his family, people and classic cars.

Funeral services from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Rd., Cranston.  Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS will be Sunday from 5 - 8 p.m.
