Georgia Lee (Downes) Saunders

79, of Providence, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late George Saunders. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Verdecchia) Downes.

Georgia worked for Honeywell for many years in disk manufacturing before retiring. More recently, she was working as a prep specialist for D’Angelos. She was an avid bowler and also enjoyed playing cards, darts and singing karaoke.

Georgia is survived by her loving daughter, Jaime Saunders and her cherished granddaughter Taylor French. She was the dear sister of Carlotta Downes, George Downes, Dennis Downes and the late Sharon Downes (her twin), Sandra Downes and Paul Downes.

Her funeral service will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 10:30 am. Inurnment will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 am.
